Kensho - Sudden Glimpse

Kensho is the Zen term for a sudden glimpse into the nature of reality and the self — not a slow unfolding but a flash of seeing, often over something small and unremarkable. It's the moment when an ordinary thing (a falling leaf, a cracked cup, a simple mala) suddenly reveals something you weren't looking for. It is not full enlightenment, but rather a first, luminous, momentary breakthrough — a crack in the wall of ordinary perception.

This simple, but unique, mala is made with smooth dark wood beads, a green druzy crystal pendant and yellow-green stone chips. The druzy glitters from unusual angles that you don’t glimpse until you turn it, and this mala has a quality of surprise with the green crystal pendant offset by the irregular, rustic stone chips. Druzy forms slowly, in small cavities inside stone, where tiny crystals grow inward instead of outward and catch the light from within rather than off a polished surface.
